I’m a former bioanalytical chemist with two BS degrees in Biochemistry and Biology and a MS in chemistry. I specialized in the analysis of natural products and proteins using HPLC and GC-MS. I love science, but I’m finding that much more of it is enjoyable when applicable to the home and garden. Or rather, the kitchen and the garden. And so this blog is my way of merging science with domestic bliss.
I live in Baltimore in a neighborhood called Pigtown, which is aptly named for its historical location as the space between the train stations (where they unloaded the pigs) to the slaughterhouses. I work in Virginia, which is okay because I’m a 7 minute walk to the train station. And despite my demanding job, my insane commute, and my obsession with food and science, I have been lucky enough to marry my husband Ben.
